Since March 2020, Burkina Faso has been faced with the COVID-19 pandemic. Several initiatives, both governmental and private, have been implemented to contain the progression of this pandemic. Among these initiatives is the COMVID COVID-19 movement, or “communities commit to emptying COVID-19”. This is a citizens’ initiative that was set up by the DES-ICI platform in April 2020. <\/p>\n

The initiative led to the creation of over fifty CCVSs, who worked as volunteers in the city of Ouagadougou. These units reached over 36,000 people through a range of awareness-raising activities (home visits, educational talks). The cells also provided and distributed materials to vulnerable households\/persons. <\/p>\n

However, the movement also encountered a number of difficulties, including those linked to the setting up of certain CCVSs, the actual implementation of CCVS activities and the management and monitoring of the movement’s activities.\"\"<\/p>\n

The best practices implemented as part of this movement, as well as the lessons learned, deserve to be shared with those involved in the fight against COVID-19 at national, regional and international level.<\/p>\n

With this in mind, the RESADE association, responsible for documenting the movement, organized a workshop on Tuesday, August 04, 2020<\/strong> to analyze the process of implementing the COMVID COVID-19 movement.<\/p>\n

The workshop brought together a total of 44 participants, including 42 CCVSs from the city of Ouagadougou. It provided an opportunity to discuss with the CCVSs and gather information on the successes, failures, potential, obstacles and main lessons learned from the implementation of the COMVID COVID-19 movement. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
