The paper presents the application of the Evidence Integration Forum (EIF) to the Cadre de Concertation (CC) for health insurance in Benin. Initiated by the African Collaborative for Health Financing Solutions (ACS), the approach was implemented from April to November 2021 and published in 2022. The IDF aims to identify knowledge needs raised at CC meetings by note-takers, form working groups supported by researchers, produce evidence and present syntheses to inform policy dialogue on universal health coverage. The process comprises four stages: needs identification, data production, contextualization and knowledge formatting. Two cycles were carried out. The first identified thirteen unresolved issues and prioritized the study of the causes of low service utilization; surveys and interviews fed into a report presented in July. The second cycle identified five themes and chose to explore public-private partnerships for AM-ARCH, culminating in a literature review and an information session organized during Health Week Benin. Lessons learned highlighted the value of IDF in documenting outstanding issues, the importance of advance communication, the need to prioritize issues, and the difficulties of transferring skills to working groups. Key recommendations include the formalization of prioritization criteria, the creation of a permanent technical group, incentives for participation and a knowledge management platform.
