Description

The aim of this study is to document and capitalize on the process of implementing the Village sans paludisme project, and to draw operational lessons from it. It also assesses, under actual implementation conditions, the effects of the intervention on the incidence and lethality of malaria, in order to inform decision-making and strategies for combating the disease.

before the start of the intervention, compared with those in villages outside the Dangouna health area. Dangouna

malaria between villages in the Dangouna health area
– Analyze the heterogeneity of initial levels and trends in the incidence of
malaria between villages in the Dangouna health area and those outside the Dangouna health area.

Results

Despite delays and shortcomings in deployment and in the overall project implementation strategy, IRS, community awareness-raising, distribution of insecticide-treated nets, sanitation activities, use of rapid diagnostic tests followed by early treatment of positive cases have led to a significant reduction in malaria incidence. The 19.8% monthly drop observed at the outset has been consolidated over time. After just nine months, the impact is striking: a significant drop of 65.59% confirms that the project is on the right track to eliminating malaria in the Dangouna CSPS health area.
