The National Forum on Health Financing (FONAFIS 2026) officially opened its doors on March 25 in Ouagadougou, under the patronage of Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, representing the Head of State.
Under the theme “Building an efficient and equitable Health Financing system for health sovereignty”, this major event brought together over 400 participants: national and international institutions, technical and financial partners, the private sector, researchers and representatives of civil society.
Over the course of three days, the experts will focus on the crucial issues of health sovereignty, mobilizing national resources and protecting the population’s financial security. The forum comes at an opportune moment, as Burkina Faso aims to achieve universal health coverage by 2030.
The opening ceremony kicked off a strong national drive to build a resilient, equitable and sustainable healthcare system. FONAFIS 2026 is a strategic framework for reflection and action to guarantee access to healthcare for all Burkinabè.
