From September 23 to 25, 2026, in Dakar, RESADE took part in the meeting of partners of the Gates Foundation’s Exemplars in Global Health (EGH) program in Burkina Faso. These three intensive days brought together the Ministry of Health and all of the technical and financial partners working alongside the Gates Foundation, united by a common goal: to align investments with national priorities for health system reform.
The highlight of our participation was the presentation of the results of the evaluation of the pilot phase of the Minimum Digital Ecosystem (EDM) during the session on digital health. Led by RESADE, this work sparked lively discussions on the conditions necessary for the successful digital transformation of Burkina Faso’s healthcare system, and in particular on the effective use of the data generated.
RESADE also presented a summary of the highlights from the first day at the start of the second day.
Over the course of these three days, we had the opportunity to hear the Ministry of Health present its new vision and ambitions for the sector (reforms to primary health care, health sovereignty, modernization of the health information system, and establishment of the National Health Intelligence Center (CeNIS)). All of these initiatives are directly aligned with RESADE’s areas of focus.
The meeting also provided an ideal setting for bilateral discussions with other partners on topics of mutual interest and opportunities for collaboration. RESADE leaves Dakar feeling that its participation was valuable and reaffirms its willingness to support the Ministry of Health and its partners in the generation and use of evidence to inform decision-making.
