From March 10 to 14, 2025, RESADE took part in the 7th Scientific Conference of the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA) in Kigali, Rwanda. This participation was an opportunity to share some preliminary results of the evaluation of the Ecosystème Digital Minimal (EDM) project, implemented by the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health since 2023.
RESADE gave two oral presentations at the conference:
The first focused on ” factors associated with the use of digital tools by healthcare professionals: the case of Burkina Faso’s Ecosystème Digital Minimal (EDM) “. This presentation, given by Relwendé Nacanabo, Economist and Associate Researcher at RESADE, highlighted factors associated with the use of digital tools by healthcare professionals, such as gender, professional experience, Internet access and level of education.
The second presentation, by Dr Joël Arthur Kiendrebeogo, medical health economist and Principal Investigator of the study, analyzed “the preliminary results of the evaluation of the implementation of the Ecosystème Digital Minimal (EDM) project, in particular the perception of users of digital tools.“ The results of the analysis showed contrasting perceptions in the use of EDM tools, highlighting the need for continuous improvement mechanisms to facilitate its adoption and maximize its benefits for the healthcare system.
During the discussions, RESADE emphasized the importance of integrating digital technologies to strengthen healthcare systems, while stressing the need to support stakeholders in adopting the tools and ensuring the sustainability of this initiative.
This participation shows that RESADE plays a key role in the digital transformation of the healthcare sector in French-speaking Africa.
